 History
DESCRIPTION:\n\nIn partnership with theatre for young audiences’ company 
 Story Theatre\, “Living Histories" is a theatre and education program\, 
 offering the opportunity to meet and talk with important BIPOC figures fro
 m BC's history. Collaboratively co-created by Director and Writer Adonis C
 ritter King and Program Artistic Producer Monica Ogden\, this year the Dis
 tinguished Mifflin Wistar Gibbs\, will be represented by a professional ac
 tor and historical interpreter. The actor remains "in character" and throu
 gh monologues\, costume\, set\, props\, and "question period"\, the actor 
 will share Mr. Mifflin Gibbs' history and stories.\n\nMifflin Gibbs was th
 e 1st Black Person to serve as a BC Municipal Councillor. He was elected o
 n November 19\, 1866 representing the James Bay Ward\; and as you read his
  story you will discover his varied and wide-ranging career and successes 
 as an entrepreneur\, business leader\, community leader\, lawyer\, judge\,
  defender of human rights\, and much more.\nFind out more about Story Thea
