DESCRIPTION:\nSunday\, February 1st at 10:15 am\nCentral Saanich United Chu
 rch\, formerly Shady Creek Church\n7180 E Saanich Rd\, Saanichton\, BC V8M
  1Y4\nFor decades a Black History Month Celebration has taken place at the
  "Shady Creek Church". The celebration includes a presentation by Karen Ho
 shal\, a life-time BCBHAS member and a descendant of the Alexander Family 
 who were instrumental in building the 1st church\, later rebuilt at its cu
 rrent location\; and a selection of songs by the choir. The Shady Creek Ch
 urch is now the Central Saanich United Church\, 7180 E Saanich Rd\, Saanic
 hton\, BC V8M 1Y4.\nA church offering will take place during the service.\
 nCoffee\, tea and homemade baked goods are available after the service\, b
 y donation.\n\n\nThe Church was designated as a Municipal Heritage Propert
 y by the District of Central Saanich in the fall of 2023\, and the plaque\
 , presented to Karen\, recognizes the Church as a heritage building. The C
 hurch was designated because it is of historic value for its use as a plac
 e of congregation and worship and for its association with the family of C
 harles and Nancy Alexander.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;
